We are all very quick in telling off our service providers when things go wrong, but how many of us either pick up the phone or drop them a line when the provide us with exceptional service, to say a big thank you.
I know that I am guilty as the next person in failing to say thank you as often as I should. Yet when we do get a letter from one of our clients thanking us for exceptional service, we really feel good about it. So why don’t we do the same to our service providers, and make them feel good too. It is not too difficult to do and only takes a moment or two to do so. You could have standard text ready which you could cut and paste into a document, and then make the necessary changes. You can imagine how we felt when we received the following from one of our clients: “Dear Mr Holroyd-Doveton Chelmsford City Bid I am writing to you to pass on my thanks for producing the Chelmsford City Bid document in such an excellent, professional and high quality way and against some very tight deadlines. The document was submitted to the government on Friday 27 May, alongside a number of our competitors up and down the country. I have received many very positive comments about the quality of the Chelmsford City Bid submission and am sure that the document your business produced will put us in a very strong position when the decision is made in early 2012. Please pass on this thanks to your colleagues who I know were extremely helpful in the preparation of our bid. Yours sincerely Stave Parkham Chief Executive Chelmsford Borough Council” About Me
